Stars take 2-1 defeat to Panhandle State

OCU falls to 0-2 in SAC play

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University dropped a 2-1 decision to Panhandle State on Tuesday night at Brian Harvey Field.
Andy Flores opened the scoring with OCU's only goal of the game in the third minute off an assist from Aleksa Mitrovic. The Stars fell to 5-5, 0-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference men's soccer.
The Aggies (5-2-1, 1-1 SAC) spoiled OCU's opportunity to rekindle at home after a 1-0 road loss at Southwestern Christian on Saturday. Allen Gamboa tallied two goals on the night, scoring off a ball from Vincente Tellos in the 24th minute and a ball over-the-top from Luke Watson-Read in the 48th minute.
The win marks the first ever in the SAC for newcomers Panhandle State.
Flores, a senior from Rowlett, Texas, scored his second goal of the season. Flores now has six goals during his four years at OCU.
Andre Salvador, a senior from São Bento do Sul, Brazil, recorded four saves in the defeat.
OCU held the edge in shots (23-8), with the Stars putting seven on frame and the Aggies creating six shots on goal.
The Stars will face Bacone in Muskogee, Okla., on Saturday at 4 p.m.
