MUSKOGEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University slugged Bacone 100-62 on Thursday night at the Palmer Center.
The Stars scored 100 points for the fourth time this season. Oklahoma City went to 13-7, 8-6 in Sooner Athletic Conference men's basketball.
OCU has won five of its past six games. The Stars outmuscled Bacone to a season-high 55 rebounds, grabbing 30 more rebounds than Bacone did.
"We focused on pushing the ball and did a good job of that," OCU coach Vinay Patel said. "We knew this was a dangerous game. We have come off a good stretch. We had a rivalry game, an emotional game the other night, and I was curious how we would come out. I was proud of how we did."
Elijah Christman, a senior from Justin, Texas, spearheaded the Stars with 17 points and a season-best 11 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. Christman has averaged 15.4 points and 6.6 rebounds a contest over the past five games with double-digit scoring in four of those matchups.
Trae Bryant, a junior from Wilmington, N.C., turned in 15 points and two steals, while Chris Williams, a senior from Denver, collected 13 points, six rebounds and four assists for OCU.
Eric McCollum, a senior from Newburgh, N.Y., produced 12 points and six rebounds while hitting all five of his field-goal attempts, and Joe Clarke, a senior from New Rochelle, N.Y., supplied the Stars with 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Eric Wattree, a junior from Port Orchard, Wash., had 10 points, three rebounds and four assists.
The Stars piled up 54 points off the bench. OCU sank a season-high 90.5 percent from the free-throw line, nailing 19 of 21 attempts from behind the foul line.
OCU meets John Brown (Ark.) at 3:45 p.m. Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
