Stars knock out Reinhardt 10-3

Fifth-ranked OCU competes next 10:30 a.m. CDT Monday

LEWISTON, Idaho – Oklahoma City University blitzed Reinhardt (Ga.) 10-3 on Saturday at Harris Field in the NAIA World Series.
Garrett Foster, a senior from Ardmore, Okla., pounded a two-run home run and doubled among his three hits for the Stars (51-9). Oklahoma City, ranked fifth in NAIA baseball, plays next 10:30 a.m. CDT (8:30 a.m. PDT) on Monday.
OCU reached double digits in runs for the 28th time and posted 14 or more hits for the 23rd time this year. The Stars top the NAIA in runs scored, RBIs, batting average, slugging percentage and triples in 2018.
Foster's drive cleared the left-center field wall to give OCU a 3-0 advantage and spark a five-run inning in the top of the second. Joe Lytle drove in a run with a single to right, and Lane Milligan brought home two runs on a base hit through the middle of the infield.
In the third, Foster belted a double deep into center field, then scored on Elliott Cary's ground ball. Oklahoma City went up 7-0 on the fielder's choice.
Daniel Costello swatted a single to right to plate a run in the fourth. Foster knocked in a run with a base hit to left for a 9-0 fourth-inning Stars lead.
Costello crushed a triple down the right-field line to put OCU in front 10-3 in the sixth.
Foster turned in a 3-for-4 day with three RBIs and two runs scored, while Milligan, a senior from Binger, Okla., went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three runs driven in.
Costello, a senior from Edmond, Okla., added a 2-for-4 performance with a run scored and two RBIs, and Jacob Chappell, a senior from Guthrie, Okla., went 2-for-4 and scored a run for the Stars. Branden Grieger, a senior from Simi Valley, Calif., chipped in a 2-for-5 day with two runs scored.
Craig Knoche, a senior right-hander from Tempe, Ariz., collected the win to go to 7-2 on the season. Knoche entered the game in the fourth and lasted four innings. Knoche struck out three and allowed one run on four hits.
Matt Young, a senior righty from Glendora, Calif., pitched the first three innings with three strikeouts. Young moved his OCU career-record strikeout total to 277. Tyler Milligan, a junior right-hander from Binger, Okla., retired Reinhardt in order the last two innings while fanning two.
