Stars trample Randall 19-2

OCU collects 20 hits for fifth time in 2018

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University crushed Randall 19-2 on Tuesday night at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars reached 20 hits for the fifth time and scored as many as 19 runs for the seventh time this year. Oklahoma City, ranked fifth in NAIA baseball, finished the regular season 43-5.
OCU faces Mid-America Christian at 11 a.m. Friday at Jim Wade Stadium in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament. The Stars host a four-team bracket from the SAC Tournament on May 4-6.
Garrett Foster hammered a three-run home run over the left-field wall to give OCU a 4-0 first-inning lead. The Stars tacked on seven runs in the second to lead 11-0.
Elliott Cary pounded a two-run double into right-center field for a nine-run Stars lead, then Jacob Chappell socked a two-run base hit to left to put OCU ahead 11-0.
Daniel Costello swatted a double into right with the bases loaded to clear the bases in the fourth. The Stars pushed their advantage to 15-0.
Branden Grieger, a senior from Simi Valley, Calif., went 3-for-4, scored three runs and drove in a run, while Lane Milligan, a senior from Binger, Okla., added a 3-for-5 night with four runs scored and two RBIs for OCU.
Joe Lytle, a senior from Yukon, Okla., posted a 3-for-5 performance with an RBI, and Costello, a senior from Edmond, Okla., chipped in a 2-for-3 day. Foster, a senior from Ardmore, Okla., knocked in four runs and went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, while Hunter Aguirre, a senior from Oklahoma City, was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Chappell, a senior from Guthrie, Okla., was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Ricky Parra collected the victory. Parra, a senior right-hander from Bronx, N.Y., worked the second inning. Craig Knoche, a senior right-hander from Tempe, Ariz., started and struck out five in two innings.
Tyler Milligan, Garrett Pike, Kolin Marley and Aguirre each pitched an inning.
