OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University shut down Mid-America Christian 6-0 on Friday in the Sooner Athletic Conference baseball tournament at Jim Wade Stadium.
Bryce Milligan notched a three-hit complete-game whitewashing of Mid-America Christian. Oklahoma City (44-5) faces Southwestern Christian at 1 p.m. Saturday in the SAC Tournament.
Milligan, a sophomore right-hander from Blanchard, Okla., struck out 10 to produce the first nine-inning, complete-game shutout of his OCU career. Milligan (9-1) logged 133 pitches and walked six in the contest. He won his fourth start in a row.
The Stars scored their first run in the fourth inning. Lane Milligan led off the bottom of the fourth with a base hit. Lane Milligan reached home plate on a passed ball.
OCU added two runs to its lead in the sixth. Branden Grieger sparked the Stars by smacking a triple to deep right field. Joe Lytle bounced a double down the third-base foul line to bring in Grieger. Lytle got home on Daniel Costello's sacrifice fly to right.
In the eighth, the Stars tacked on insurance runs. Garrett Foster added a sacrifice fly. Hunter Aguirre knocked in two runs with a single to left.
Lytle, a senior from Yukon, Okla., posted a 2-for-4 day, doubled twice, scored twice and drove in a run, while Foster, a senior from Ardmore, Okla., went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Oklahoma City. Lane Milligan, a senior from Binger, Okla., was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base.
