Cary, Costello finish Saturday’s doubleheader with four hits each

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University completed its regular-season sweep over Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) after knocking off the Lions 6-1 and 15-2 in Saturday's doubleheader at Jim Wade Stadium.
Elliott Cary and Daniel Costello each led the Stars with four total hits on the day. Costello, a senior from Edmond, Okla., added three total RBIs and two runs and Cary, a junior from Niceville, Fla., finished with two runs and an RBI. Branden Grieger smacked a three-run home run in the bottom of the second inning of game one to give the Stars a 4-0 lead. He ended the doubleheader with two hits, five RBIs and three runs. The homerun was Grieger's ninth of the season, tying Lane Milligan for the team high this year.
Milligan and Joe Lytle each finished the day with three hits apiece. Lytle, a senior from Yukon, Okla., gave the Stars a 6-0 lead in the third inning of game one off an RBI single up the middle. The Lions scratched one run across in the sixth but were unable to cut into the OCU lead any further.
Bryce Milligan, a sophomore from Blanchard, Okla., picked up the win in game one after throwing five shutout innings and tossing five strikeouts. Garrett Pike and Tyler Milligan each pitched an inning of relief and gave up a combined two hits.
An RBI single from Hunter Aguirre in the third inning of game two gave Oklahoma City a 10-run lead. Aguirre, a senior from Oklahoma City, ended the day with two hits, three RBIs and two runs. The Stars scored four more runs in the fourth to take a commanding 15-1 lead.
J.R. Holloway, a senior from Grapevine, Texas, moved to 6-0 on the year after pitching four innings and allowing only one hit and one run while striking out seven. Aguirre, Tanner Andrews and Miguel Figueroa combined to pitch the final three innings and struck out five.
