Stars demolish Kansas Wesleyan 20-2

OCU scores at least 20 runs for third time this season

SALINA, Kan. – Oklahoma City University cruised to a 20-2 victory in seven innings against Kansas Wesleyan Tuesday evening at Dean Evans Stadium, scoring at least 20 runs in a game for the third time this season.
Joe Lytle and Garrett Foster each led OCU with four hits apiece, with Lytle smacking two homeruns and finishing a triple away from batting for the cycle. Oklahoma City, ranked fourth in the latest NAIA baseball poll, improved to 14-2 overall while Kansas Wesleyan dropped to 12-11 on the year.
Shaun Corso and Lane Milligan each gave the Stars three hits in the win. Corso, a senior from Lancaster, Pa., had four RBIs, two doubles and a homerun. Milligan, a senior from Binger, Okla., notched three RBIs and a homerun. OCU's four total homeruns on Tuesday were the most the Stars have had in a game this season.
Oklahoma City got its first run on the board when Quinton Walbergh was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the top of the first inning. Foster then singled to center field to bring in another run. The Stars were hit by pitch a season-high six times against Kansas Wesleyan.
OCU pulled away in the third inning, scratching across four runs to take a 7-0 lead. Daniel Costello got the scoring started with a single to center field that drove in Foster, then Lytle followed with a homer to right that brought in three more runs.
Kansas Wesleyan broke up the shutout with a run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 8-1, OCU. The Stars hammered across five more runs in the sixth, highlighted by a three-run blast from Corso that gave OCU a 13-1 lead.
The Stars' offense again exploded in the seventh inning, this time producing seven runs. Jacob Chappell capped the inning with a single down the right field line for his third hit of the game.
