Stars cruise to 9-1 win over Southwestern Christian

Holloway, Milligan silence Eagles

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University walloped Southwestern Christian 9-1 on Thursday afternoon at Dolese Park.
The Stars' J.R. Holloway and Bryce Milligan teamed to hold Southwestern Christian to one run on five hits. OCU, ranked 10th in NAIA baseball, improved to 22-5, 10-3 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Holloway, a senior right-hander from Grapevine, Texas, struck out two in limiting Southwestern Christian to one run on four hits and four walks in 5.1 innings. Holloway moved to 4-0 on the year. Milligan, a sophomore righty from Blanchard, Okla., fanned two and allowed one hit and two walks in 3.2 innings. Milligan earned his first career save.
OCU took a 2-0 second-inning lead. Garrett Foster scored on a wild pitch, while Quinton Walbergh reached home plate on an error.
The Stars piled up seven runs in the last two innings. In the eighth, Lane Milligan drove in a run on a base hit to right field. Branden Grieger scored on a wild pitch, and Garrett Foster swatted an RBI single to left.
Jacob Chappell singled to center field to put OCU ahead 6-1 in the ninth. Chappell gave the Stars their seventh run of the day when he scored on a wild pitch. Grieger reached home on a grounder, then Cary scored on an error.
Grieger, a senior from Simi Valley, Calif., went 2-for-4 and scored twice, and Chappell, a senior from Guthrie, Okla., was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Foster, a senior from Ardmore, Okla., had a 2-for-5 day with an RBI and run scored.  
The Stars square off with Southwestern Christian at 6 p.m. Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
