Meador twirls complete-game shutout to give OCU split in twin bill

CHICKASHA, Okla. – No. 1-ranked Oklahoma City University knocked off previously unbeaten USAO 3-0 on Saturday at Bill Smith Ballpark in a matchup of top 25-ranked teams in NAIA softball.
Abby Meador, a senior from Midwest City, Okla., posted her fourth shutout of the season to help OCU (13-4, 3-1 Sooner Athletic Conference) salvage a doubleheader split. No. 25-ranked USAO (14-1, 1-1 SAC) picked up the 3-2 win in the first of the twin bill.
Meador (5-0) struck out 10 and walked one in throwing a four-hit whitewashing. Meador notched her fourth complete game of the season.
Baileigh Loux brought in Kennedy Jackson from third base with an infield single to the USAO shortstop in the fourth inning. Brittany Perez followed with a sacrifice fly to left field to put the Stars on top 2-0.
Bailey Whitmore's RBI base hit to center field put OCU ahead 3-0 in the seventh.

In the first game, Jaci Smith pounded a two-run home run over the center-field wall to put Oklahoma City in front 2-0 in the top of the sixth.
USAO rallied with three runs in the sixth and seventh. Randa Hatter singled to right to score the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
Georgia Wall took the loss, dropping to 5-3 on the year. She struck out six in six innings. Emily Cerny improved to 7-0 on the year with the victory.
