OCU rolls in matchup of top 10-ranked teams

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University rolled to a 21-0 win over Bellevue (Neb.) on Thursday at Jim Wade Stadium in a clash of top 10-ranked teams in NAIA baseball.
Lane Milligan pummeled a home run, Quinton Walbergh crushed a grand slam and Hunter Aguirre pounded a two-run shot to highlight the Stars' effort. Third-ranked OCU moved to 5-0, while ninth-ranked Bellevue opened its season.
Oklahoma City scored its most runs since a 22-11 wipeout of Roosevelt (Ill.) on March 6, 2017 at Jim Wade Stadium. The Stars piled up 20 hits for the first time since a 19-1 romp past Bacone at home May 6, 2016 in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament.
Milligan, a senior from Binger, Okla., went 5-for-6 with two RBIs, a run scored and his first homer of the year, while Walbergh, a junior from Edmond, Okla., scored four times and drove in four runs with a 1-for-3 effort for OCU.
Shaun Corso, a senior from Lancaster, Pa., posted a 3-for-5 day with a double, two runs and four RBIs, and Garrett Foster, a senior from Ardmore, Okla., knocked in four runs, smacked two doubles and scored twice in a 3-for-5 performance.
Elliott Cary, a junior from Niceville, Fla., went 2-for-5, doubled, drove in a run and scored, and Joe Lytle, a senior from Yukon, Okla., added a 2-for-4 game with three runs scored. Branden Grieger, a senior from Simi Valley, Calif., went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a double and an RBI.
In the first inning, Corso gave OCU its first run with a sacrifice fly to right field with the bases full to score Grieger from third base. Foster added a sac fly, and Cary nailed a double into left-center field to put the Stars up 3-0.
Milligan nailed a 2-0 pitch over the right-field wall with one out in the second inning. Corso drove in another run with a base hit to left field. Daniel Costello poked a two-run hit through the middle of the infield for a 7-0 OCU advantage.
The Stars piled on seven-run innings in the sixth and the seventh. Walbergh's grand slam provided OCU with a 14-0 sixth-inning margin. Aguirre, a senior from Oklahoma City, hammered a two-run homer beyond the right-field wall for an 18-0 seventh-inning advantage.
Bryce Milligan and Aguirre teamed for OCU's first shutout since a 5-0 whitewash of Bacone on April 1, 2017 in Muskogee, Okla. Milligan, a sophomore right-hander from Blanchard, Okla., struck out nine in 6.2 innings while allowing three hits and two walks. Milligan (2-0) retired 10 of the first 11 batters he faced.
