THE MATCHUP

• Oklahoma City University makes its first visit to Panhandle State in 24 years
• The Stars take to the road for the first of three consecutive away games
• OCU goes to Goodwell, Okla., for the first time since Dec. 4, 1993, when OCU won 98-88. That was also the last meeting in the series until January
 
ABOUT THE STARS
• The Stars collected an 83-69 win over Mid-America Christian on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena. Oklahoma City (17-5, 10-4 SAC) overcame an early 14-7 deficit, reeling off a 14-0 run to seize a 24-16 lead midway through the first half
Ridell Camidge, a 6-foot-4 senior from Wilmington, N.C., put together 19 points, five rebounds, five assists, two blocked shots and two steals. Camidge delivers 18.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest along with 41.8 percent 3-point shooting. Camidge ranks ninth in the NAIA with 66 3-pointers this season
Samuel Williams, a 6-8 senior from St. Martinville, La., added 17 points, four rebounds and two blocks. Williams produces 16.4 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Williams grabs 3.1 offensive rebounds a game to rank 10th nationally
• OCU ranks eighth in NAIA Division I and leads the league at 91.9 points per game. See how OCU compares with the rest of the NAIA statistically this season here
• The Stars climbed to 15th in the latest NAIA Division I rankings. Oklahoma City has made 23 NAIA Division I Tournament appearances and won six national championships in 1991, 1992, 1994, 1996, 2007 and 2008
• The Stars have been picked to finish second place in the Sooner Athletic Conference according to the preseason coaches poll. OCU owns 12 SAC regular-season titles and nine SAC Tournament crowns
• Oklahoma City rolled to a 93-64 win over Panhandle State on Jan. 20 at Abe Lemons Arena. Terence Bonhomme topped the Stars with 21 points. OCU moved to 17-2 all-time vs. Panhandle State
 
ABOUT THE AGGIES
• Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) clobbered Panhandle State 129-62 on Saturday in Waxahachie, Texas. Panhandle State (11-10, 4-9 SAC) gave up 100 points for the third time this season and for the second consecutive contest
• Brandon Green, a 6-3 sophomore, had 10 points and four rebounds. Green averages 2.3 points and 2.1 rebounds a game
• Nathan Thompson, a 6-7 freshman, posted 10 points and four rebounds also. Thompson provides Panhandle State with 1.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per game
• Jace Kerr, a 6-6 junior, leads Panhandle with 22.5 points a game
• SAC coaches expected Panhandle State to finish 10th in the league before the season
 
MEET THE COACHES
Vinay Patel (53-27, third season with OCU)
• Patel collected his second HoopDirt.com coach of the week honor for Dec. 4-10
• Patel has guided two OCU all-Americans, including the Stars' first first-teamer since 2008; the 2017 Sooner Athletic Conference player of the year, the 2017 SAC co-defensive player of the year, a finalist for the Dark Horse Dunker competition, six all-conference performers and three academic all-SAC choices
• Before coming to OCU, he spent one season as Rogers State's assistant coach and aided the Hillcats to a 20-8 season led by the conference player of the year
• Patel spent nine years as assistant before serving as the head coach at West Texas A&M. During that time, West Texas went to the NCAA Division II Tournament five times, won the Lone Star Conference championship and took two Lone Star South Division titles
 
Jerry Olsen (11th season with OPSU)
• Olsen is in his 14th season overall and his 11th season as men's head basketball coach for Panhandle State. He was the women's basketball coach at OPSU from 1990-94, making the postseason in three of his four years
• Olson guided the 2008 men's team to a 97-91 victory over Colorado State, the only Division II school to beat a Division I school during the regular season at that time
• Before coming to Panhandle State, Olson was the top assistant at Montana State. While Olson was at Montana State, the Bobcats went to two NCAA tournaments and two NITs and posted four 20-win seasons
