OCU rolls to 112-92 win over Southwestern Christian

Stars reach 20 wins for second consecutive season

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University outlasted Southwestern Christian 112-92 on Thursday night at Abe Lemons Arena.
Ivan Saicic, a senior from Belgrade, Serbia, rang up season highs with 27 points and nine assists for the Stars. OCU, ranked 12th in NAIA Division I men's basketball, moved to 20-6, 13-5 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Oklahoma City registered back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since 2006-07 and 2007-08. The Stars reached 100 points for the eighth time this season and scored as many as 112 for the third time in 2017-18. OCU scored 60 points in a half for the third time this season.
The Stars shot a season-best 60.3 percent from the field and totaled 20 assists for the sixth time this season.
Saicic shot 10-for-13 from the field and 7-for-8 from the free-throw line. Ridell Camidge, a senior from Wilmington, N.C., accumulated 25 points and eight rebounds while shooting 5-for-9 from beyond the 3-point line for OCU.
The Stars' Lou Dunbar, a senior from Seabrook, Texas, tallied 14 points in 16 minutes, downing 4 of 6 3-pointers. Terence Bonhomme, a senior from St. Martinville, La., posted 11 points and three steals, and Jonathan Ellis, a senior from Powder Springs, Ga., added nine points, six assists and two blocked shots with a 9-for-10 shooting night from the free-throw line for OCU.
Oklahoma City led 61-44 at halftime. Southwestern Christian clawed its way back into the game as Trevar Mayon's bucket cut OCU's lead to 67-61 at the 13:32 mark during the second half.
The Stars stretched its lead back into double digits at 74-64 on Eric McCollum's putback. Lou Dunbar gave OCU its largest lead of the game with free throws to stretch the Stars' advantage to 111-88 with 1:44 left.
OCU was originally scheduled to play at St. Gregory's on Saturday, but the Stars will accept a forfeit and go to 21-6. OCU faces Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) at 8 p.m. Feb. 22 in Waxahachie, Texas.
