OCU enters SAC Tournament as top seed

Stars seek third consecutive SAC Tournament title

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University earned the top seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball tournament this week starting on campus sites Tuesday and concluding at Abe Lemons Arena on Friday and Saturday.
The Stars host Panhandle State in a quarterfinal match 6 p.m. Tuesday. The tournament semifinals will start 4:30 p.m. Friday. The championship match happens 1 p.m. Saturday.
OCU picked up the No. 1 seed and shared the regular-season championship with Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas). The Stars (27-3, 18-2 SAC) held on for a win over Wayland Baptist (Texas) on Saturday 25-22, 21-25, 23-25, 25-16, 15-9 in their final regular-season match. Southwestern Assemblies of God (27-3, 18-2 SAC) became co-champions with OCU for the second year in a row.
Oklahoma City collected one of the conference's national-tournament berths, and the SAC's other one is up for grabs in the tournament. OCU has won the last two SAC Tournament titles.
The NAIA Championship Opening Round occurs Nov. 17 on campus sites around the nation. The NAIA Championships will be Nov. 27-Dec. 1 at Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
