OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University cruised past Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) 30-13 on Saturday afternoon.
Montana Moon started off OCU with a pin in the dual, while Matt Landgraff added a technical fall. The Stars, ranked 15th in NAIA wrestling, improved to 2-0 in duals.
Chase Vincent provided the Stars with a major-decision victory, while all-American Korey Walker won in his first match since the end of the 2016-17 season.
Moon, a sophomore from Chickasha, Okla., finished off Barrett Stickelman in the 125-pound match in 3:50. After Logan Sloss of Ouachita Baptist pinned Logan Chappell, Jaxen Gilmore put OCU ahead for good with a 3-1 win. Gilmore, a freshman from Yukon, Okla., notched a second-period reversal and riding time to secure the victory at 141.
Landgraff, a senior from Weeki Wachee, Fla., rolled to an 18-3 win in the 165-pound bout. Landgraff notched a pair of four-point near falls plus a two-point near fall in the first period.
Vincent, a sophomore from Yukon, Okla., collected a couple of takedowns to pick up the 11-1 win over Jace Browlee at 174.
Walker, a junior from Midwest City, Okla., won 10-6 over Tanner Hawkins in the 285-pound contest. Walker posted four takedowns.
The Stars' Kaden Truelove won 12-5 over Justin Villegas at 184. Truelove, a junior from Mustang, Okla., pulled away from a 5-5 tie with a takedown with a minute left in the match and a four-point near fall in the final 15 seconds.
