SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Oklahoma City University seized a 25-10, 25-19, 25-12 victory over John Brown (Ark.) on Friday night at Bill George Arena.
The Stars snapped John Brown's home-court win streak at 17. OCU improved to 14-2, 10-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball.
John Brown (9-7, 8-3 SAC) dropped a home contest for the first time since Oct. 12, 2016. Wayland Baptist (Texas) saddled John Brown with a 23-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-12 setback that night.
Oklahoma City's Marijana Bjelobrk, a junior from Belgrade, Serbia, produced 15 kills, four digs and two blocks. Lacy Beeler, a sophomore from Jenks, Okla., turned in 14 kills, nine digs and two service aces, while Taylor Horton, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., accumulated 27 assists, nine digs, four kills and two blocks.
Lauren Hermes, a junior from The Colony, Texas, collected 10 digs and six assists, and Ella Lofton, a sophomore from Cedar Park, Texas, chipped in seven kills and four digs for the Stars.
Beeler hammered a kill to put OCU ahead 19-7 in the first set.
In the second set, the Stars reeled off six points in a row to go 18-9. Bjelobrk, Beeler and Lofton knocked down kills to spark OCU.
OCU went on a 7-0 tear during the final set. Olivia Nutter smacked a kill that gave the Stars a 16-5 advantage. Beeler and Nutter each had two kills during the Stars' run. Caitlin Bosarge added an ace during that span.
Oklahoma City added a forfeit win over Bacone in the match originally scheduled for Saturday. The Stars (15-2) return to Abe Lemons Arena for a 7:30 p.m. contest against Langston.
