FORT WORTH, Texas – Brian Harvey reached milestone victory No. 425 in men's college soccer with a 3-1 win over Texas Wesleyan on Tuesday at Martin Field.
In his 33 years at OCU, Harvey has amassed a record of 425-199-41 coaching men's soccer and a record of 362-120-27 coaching women's soccer for a combined record of 787-319-68. The Stars improved to 7-2, 2-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The Stars' struck early as Aboubakr Diallo, a senior from Oyem, Gabon, scored his 11th goal of the season off an assist by Petar Djurdjevic, a senior from Belgrade, Serbia. The assist was the team leading eighth of the year for Djurdjevic.
In the 33rd minute Djurdjevic assisted Diallo to score the game-winning goal making it 2-0. James Beattie added to the Stars lead in the 54th minute with an unassisted goal to make it 3-0.
The Rams got on the board in the 55th minute when Claudio Barraza assisted George Battersby to bring the game within two scores at 3-1.
The Stars goalkeeper Andre Salvador, a junior from São Bento do Sul, Brazil, notched five saves. Bastian Blumenberg registered three saves and dropped to 3-4 as the Rams goalkeeper.
Oklahoma City travels to Waxahachie, Texas, to take on Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
