Hermes of OCU nabs SAC defender of week

Junior from The Colony, Texas, collected most digs in Eutectics Classic

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Sooner Athletic Conference honored Oklahoma City University's Lauren Hermes with her second conference volleyball defender of the week of the year.
Hermes, a junior libero from The Colony, Texas, topped the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Eutectics Classic with 5.69 digs per set in four matches. Hermes contributed 5.26 digs, 0.26 aces and 1.16 assists per set as Oklahoma City went 6-0 during the week of Oct. 8-14.
Hermes amassed 19 digs and nine assists as OCU moved its winning string to 13 with a 16-25, 25-12, 25-11, 25-19 win over Saint Francis (Ill.) on Saturday in St. Louis. Hermes notched 19 digs in a 25-17, 25-14, 25-20 win over Cumberland (Tenn.) to give the Stars their fifth consecutive 20-win season.
This year, Hermes supplies Oklahoma City with 4.77 digs and 0.21 aces a set. Hermes rates third in the SAC in digs (339) and fourth in digs a set.
The Stars continue SAC play against Southwestern Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Bethany, Okla. Watch the match live here.
