Stars blank Kansas Wesleyan 3-0

OCU wins its third game in a row Saturday night

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City University women's soccer team won its third-straight game with a 3-0 shutout over Kansas Wesleyan Saturday night at Stars Field.
Natalie Speer and Natalie Eley both tallied their first goal of the season in the win. With the victory, the Stars advanced to 4-2 while Kansas Wesleyan fell to 1-4-1.
Sara Ricks, a junior from Keller, Texas, scored the first goal of the match in the 32nd minute. She rebounded a shot that came from Keilah Ayum, took a quick shot and launched her fifth goal of the season.
Speer, a junior from Stillwater, Okla., notched the second goal of the match for OCU when Eley's shot hit off the right post and bounced to Speer a few feet from goal. She tapped in her first goal of the year in the 54th minute.
A beautiful cross from Brianna Demuth connected with Eley in the 84th minute, when Eley finished the pass with a header to put the game out of reach.
OCU produced 21 total shots on Saturday, 11 on goal. Kansas Wesleyan notched eight total shots, two on goal. Junior goalkeeper Kirsten Thomas improved to 3-2 in goal and has 19 saves and six goals allowed this season.
Oklahoma City returns to action at 5 p.m. Tuesday with its conference opener against St. Gregory's at Stars Field.
