Stars dominate Bethany 3-0

OCU scores three goals in second half to win second straight

OKLAHOMA CITY – A scoring blitz at the beginning of the second half gave Oklahoma City University a 3-0 victory over Bethany (Kan.) at Stars Field.
Keeley Brewer and Bailey Webb both notched their first goals of the season in the win. OCU improved to 3-2 on the year while Bethany dropped to 2-3.
Though the flurry of goals came in the second half, the Stars were dominating all game long. They held the Swedes to zero shots in the first half and had a stronghold on possession for the majority of the game.
Brewer, a senior from Corinth, Texas, scored the first goal of the night for OCU in the 47th minute off a corner kick. Two minutes later, Sara Ricks dribbled past Bethany defenders and fired a shot from a few yards inside the box that put the Stars ahead 2-0. It was Ricks' fourth goal of the season.
Webb, a freshman from Oklahoma City, tallied her first goal of the season in the 58th minute via an assist from Natalie Speer
Oklahoma City finished the match with 21 total shots, nine on goal. Bethany had two total shots, both on goal. Kirsten Thomas and Kristina Patterson each saw action as OCU's goalkeeper on Wednesday, both finishing with one save and no goals allowed.
The Stars' next match is at 4 p.m. Saturday against Kansas Wesleyan at Stars Field.
