SHAWNEE, Okla. – Logan Stewart scored the game-winning goal with 22 seconds to play to give Oklahoma City University a 2-1 victory over Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday night at the OBU Soccer Complex.
Stewart, a senior from Denton, Texas, slid in at the top of the box and finished with a shot that sailed inside the bottom left post to give OCU the win. The shot was set up and assisted by junior forward Aboubakr Diallo. The result kept the Stars perfect at 5-0 in men's soccer, while OBU dropped to 1-1-1.
At 5-0, Oklahoma City has its best start in men's soccer since 1989. OCU opened the 1989 season with nine consecutive victories for its finest start in program history.
Oklahoma Baptist notched the first goal of the match late in the first half with a score from Thiago Dos Santos from about 20 yards out. Junior defender Dan White gave OCU the answer it was looking for with a goal off a corner kick from Alexandre Taiar to tie the match at one in the 82nd minute.
The Stars led the way in total shots with 17, eight on goal. OBU totaled 12 shots, five on goal. OCU keeper Vladimir Kalajdzic kept an undefeated record in goal, producing four saves on the night.
