OCU wins 17th SAC Tournament title 7-0 over St. Gregory’s

Wall throws complete-game shutout for top-ranked Stars

OKLAHOMA CITY – Georgia Wall threw a complete-game four-hit shutout to help the top-ranked Oklahoma City University softball team take home the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament title with a 7-0 win over St. Gregory's on Saturday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
Oklahoma City, ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, won its 17th SAC Tournament championship and moved to 61-1 on the season with the win.
Wall, a sophomore from Marlow, Okla., threw her ninth complete-game shutout of the season to move to 27-0 on the season. She allowed four hits and struck out four while lowering her season earned run average to 0.72.
OCU scored two runs in the third and fifth innings, highlighted by an RBI single from Jaci Smith, an RBI double off the bat of McRae Cayton, and an RBI single by Amanda Ingram.
The big blow for the Stars came in the sixth inning when Cayton deposited a double into left-center with the bases loaded to plate three runs and give Oklahoma City the 7-0 lead.
Cayton, a senior from Irvine, Calif., finished the day 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Samantha Stallbaumer, a sophomore from Haven, Kan., also recorded three hits for OCU, going 3-for-4 and scoring two runs.
The Stars have now won 63 straight games against NAIA competition dating back to the NAIA World Series last season. OCU won the conference tournament title for the first time since 2014.
Oklahoma City hosts the NAIA Championship Opening Round Oklahoma City Bracket at Ann Lacy Stadium on May 15-17. The brackets will be announced Wednesday, May 10.
