Stars take No. 1 seed in NAIA Softball World Series

Top-ranked OCU plays 7:30 p.m. EDT May 27

CLERMONT, Fla. – Top-ranked Oklahoma City University will start pursuit of its second consecutive national title in the NAIA Softball World Series at 6:30 p.m. CDT May 27 at the Legends Way Ball Fields.
The Stars (64-1) meet the victor between Indiana Wesleyan and 20th-ranked Southern Oregon, who face off 11:30 a.m. CDT Friday, May 26. Oklahoma City garnered the No. 1 seed in its 30th trip to the World Series.
The NAIA offers live stats and video of all World Series games. Fans can watch the games for $9.95 per day or with a $29.95 tournament pass. Tickets cost $10 for general admission, $5 for grass seating and $50 for an all-session pass.
OCU has taken more championships (nine) and World Series wins (120) than any NAIA softball program. Phil McSpadden has guided Oklahoma City to nine national crowns, four runner-up showings, six 60-win seasons and 28 appearances in the World Series in his 30th year as coach.
McSpadden owns a 1,609-367 career mark to lead college softball in victories vs. four-year competition. McSpadden recorded his 1,600th victory 7-1 on April 25 at USAO.
OCU has been atop the NAIA rankings for 13 consecutive polls dating to the April 5, 2016 ratings and in the top 25 for 127 consecutive polls for the longest active streak in NAIA softball. The Stars top the NAIA with 520 runs scored, 699 hits, 464 RBIs, 166 stolen bases, 8.00 runs scored per game, 1,835 at-bats, a 0.72 earned run average and a .143 opponents' batting average.
