OCU stomps Bacone 12-2, 10-0

Pugh leads top-ranked Stars by driving in seven runs Wednesday

OKLAHOMA CITY – Top-ranked Oklahoma City University overwhelmed Bacone 12-2 and 10-0 on Wednesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
Kali Pugh hammered two home runs and drove in seven runs on the evening to spark OCU. The Stars, ranked No. 1 in NAIA softball, improved to 49-1, 20-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Pugh, a senior from Vista, Calif., pounded a solo blast over the left-center field wall leading off the bottom of the first inning for Oklahoma City. Pugh's RBI double gave OCU ahead 2-0 in the second. Pugh belted a three-run shot beyond the left-field wall in the third to put the Stars on top 8-0.
Madison Ellis smacked a two-run double into left field for a 4-0 second-inning OCU lead. Ellis hit a run-scoring base hit to right to provide the Stars a 9-0 third-inning advantage.
Amanda Ingram bounced a fly ball off the left-field wall and over the wall for her second homer of the year and a 5-0 third-inning OCU lead. Ingram's homer sparked an eight-run third inning for the Stars. Sha Ingram added an RBI single, while Bailey Whitmore got hit by pitch with the bases loaded to put Oklahoma City up 11-0.
Pugh went 3-for-4, scored three runs and knocked in five runs, while Ellis, a senior from Yukon, Okla., went 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs. Stephanie Koishor, a senior from Valley Center, Calif., was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, and Samantha Stallbaumer, a sophomore from Haven, Kan., turned in a 2-for-3 performance with scored twice. Jaci Smith, a sophomore from Godley, Texas, went 2-for-2, stole a base and scored a run.  
OCU's Georgia Wall improved to 21-0 on the year. Wall, a sophomore from Marlow, Okla., struck out seven and allowed two hits in four innings. Wall owns a 49-1 career mark.
In the second game, Laci Joyner propelled OCU to a four-run first inning, nailing an RBI double to right-center. Amanda Ingram put the Stars up 4-0 with a sacrifice bunt to bring in Ellis.
The Stars posted five runs in the second. Pugh had a two-run base hit, while Amanda Ingram drove in a run with a double to right. Raeven Clark poked an RBI single to right to give OCU a 9-0 lead.
Pugh had a 2-for-4 showing with two runs scored and two runs driven in, and Clark, a junior from Oklahoma City, added a 2-for-3 performance with an RBI. Amanda Ingram and Joyner each had two RBIs, and Smith scored twice.
Jaden Shores earned the victory by shutting out Bacone over the last three innings. Shores, a freshman from Blanchard, Okla., allowed two hits and struck out three. Shores went to 10-0. Abby Meador fanned two in the first two innings.
The Stars face Texas Wesleyan in a 5 p.m. doubleheader Friday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
