BETHANY, Okla. – The top-ranked Oklahoma City University softball team remained undefeated after 5-0 and 14-0 wins over Southwestern Christian Monday at SCU Softball Field.
Oklahoma City, 42-0, 16-0 in Sooner Athletic Conference play, now has shutouts in five straight games and pushed their winning streak to 47 straight games dating back to last season.
The Stars jumped ahead with two runs in the first inning of game one after an RBI single from Kali Pugh and an RBI groundout by McRae Cayton.
OCU added a run in the third when Cayton doubled and was driven in by a Bailey Whitmore single up the middle.
The Stars added single runs in both the fifth and sixth innings, highlighted by a Whitmore RBI single and a Raeven Clark solo home run, to extend their lead to 5-0.
Whitmore, a sophomore from Oklahoma City, led the charge offensively going 2-for-3 with two RBIs while Cayton, a senior out of Irvine, Calif., finished the game 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored.
Jaden Shores got the win for OCU, pitching five scoreless innings while allowing three hits and striking out six.
Abby Meador came on for the final two innings and allowed just one hit while striking out three.
The Stars offense exploded in game two with multiple runs in four of the five innings.
Oklahoma City scored three runs in the top of the second inning thanks in part to an RBI double off the bat of Kali Pugh.
OCU blew the game open with five runs off two homers in the third inning. The first home run was a two run bomb from Cayton over the left center-field fence while the second was a three run round tripper on a 1-1 count by Kali Pugh.
The Stars continued to add on with two runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth to make the game 14-0.
In the fifth with runners on first and second, Madison Ellis lifted a 3-2 pitch out of the park for her 12th homer of the season.
Pugh, a senior from Vista, Calif., finished the game 2-for-5 with two runs scored and four RBIs and was one of four Stars to record multiple hits in the game.

Meador and Georgia Wall combined for the Stars' 23rd shutout of the season. Meador got the win after pitching three scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out four. Wall got the last six outs of the game without allowing a batter to reach base.
