Stars rout Hastings, Lindenwood-Belleville

Top-ranked OCU moves to 13-0

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 1-ranked Oklahoma City University mauled Hastings (Neb.) 16-3 and blanked Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) 5-0 on Friday at the Fayetteville Softball Complex in the Evangel-Fayetteville Classic.
Kali Pugh pounded a leadoff home run to spark the Stars against Hastings, while Georgia Wall shut out Lindenwood-Belleville on one hit. OCU, top-ranked in the NAIA, improved to 13-0.
Pugh and Madison Ellis each hammered two homers for Oklahoma City. Pugh added a solo blast in the fourth inning, while Ellis nailed a grand slam in the second and a two-run shot in the fourth.
Pugh, a senior from Vista, Calif., went 3-for-4, scored three times with two RBIs, and Ellis, a senior from Yukon, Okla., was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and six runs driven in for OCU. Stephanie Koishor had three RBIs, while Laci Joyner went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Abby Meador recorded the victory to move to 5-0. Meador, a junior from Midwest City, Okla., struck out six in a five-inning complete game.
In the second game, Ellis drove in a run with a double, and Meador tacked on an RBI single. Joyner, a junior from Mustang, Okla., went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Wall, a sophomore from Marlow, Okla., limited Lindenwood-Belleville to Emily Ray's infield hit in the second inning. Wall fanned four in a seven-inning complete-game effort. She moved to 6-0.
The Stars face Evangel (Mo.) at 1 p.m., then Friends (Kan.) at 3 p.m. Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark.
