OCU gets two run-rule victories over Bacone

Stars outscore Warriors 22-0 in twin bill

MUSKOGEE, Okla. – The top-ranked Oklahoma City University softball team took home 11-0 and 10-0 wins over Bacone on Thursday at Bacone Softball Field.
OCU moved to 26-0, 4-0 in Sooner Athletic Conference play this season. The Stars, ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, pushed their winning streak dating back to last year to 29.
Oklahoma City jumped early in game one with a run in the first inning and two in the third, highlighted by a Raeven Clark RBI double.
Clark, a junior from Oklahoma City, went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the game.
The Stars offense exploded for three runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth to push the lead to 11 and helped in the game after five innings.
Abby Meador pitched five shutout innings for OCU while allowing two hits and striking out seven. Meador, a junior from Midwest City, Okla., has now struck out 63 hitters in 51 innings this season.
In game two, the Stars plated four runs in the first to grab the early lead. Smith, Madison Ellis and McRae Cayton all doubled in the inning to lead the charge.
OCU tacked on single runs in the second and third innings and two runs in the fourth and fifth innings to move ahead 10-0.
Smith, a sophomore from Godley, Texas, provided fireworks in the fourth when she lifted a two-run home run over the center-field wall. In both games, Smith went a combined 4-for-6 with six RBIs and four runs scored.
Georgia Wall was spectacular in the circle for OCU, pitching five innings, allowing no runs on one hit. Wall, a sophomore from Marlow, Okla., recorded nine of the 15 outs via strikeout.
The Stars put their unbeaten record on the line at Texas Wesleyan in a league twin bill 5 p.m. Tuesday in Fort Worth, Texas.
