OCU grabs two victories over Texas Wesleyan

Stars hit four homers in two games

FORT WORTH, Texas – The top-ranked Oklahoma City University softball team remained undefeated this season after two dominant wins over Texas Wesleyan at Sycamore Park.
The Stars took game one 9-0 in five innings and followed it up with an 8-4 win in the nightcap to move to 28-0, 6-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Oklahoma City is now one win away from tying the OCU record for most consecutive wins to start a season. The Stars started 29-0 to begin the 2016 campaign.
In game one, OCU got on the board early with a run in the first thanks to an RBI triple from Kali Pugh.
The Stars opened the floodgates in the third with five runs thanks to a two-run homer from Jaci Smith and a three-run shot off the bat of Amanda Ingram.
Smith, a sophomore from Godley, Texas, went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored in the win.
Abby Meador was spectacular in the circle, throwing five scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out three.
In game two, Oklahoma City produced five runs in the top of the second to take a 5-0 lead. The inning was highlighted by a three-run homer off the bat of Pugh.
The Stars added a run in the third on a double from Stephanie Koishor, but Texas Wesleyan fought back to score three in the fourth to make it a 6-3 game.
OCU responded with two runs in the sixth, one of which came on a solo shot from Koishor, to expand the lead to five.
Koishor, a senior out of Valley Center, Calif., went 2-for-3 with a walk, two RBIs and two runs scored. McRae Cayton, a senior from Irvine, Calif., also produced two hits, going 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Georgia Wall pitched all seven innings for OCU, giving up four runs on five hits while striking out six. Wall moved to 12-0 on the season with the win.
