OKLAHOMA CITY – The fourth-ranked Oklahoma City University baseball team remained unbeaten in conference play after two wins over Mid-America Christian 20-5 and 8-1 Saturday at James Curtis Baseball Field.
Oklahoma City pounded six home runs over the course of two games and moved to 28-4, 6-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference this season.
OCU fell behind 5-1 early in game, but exploded for 12 runs in the top of the fourth to take a 13-5 lead.
Every Star in the lineup reached base in the inning, with Jared Baker, Cory Linn, Hunter Aguirre, Skyler Bean and Joe Lytle all recording at least one RBI. Baker, a senior from Edmond, Okla., opened the inning with a solo home run to begin the rally.
Baker went 2-for-3 in the game with an RBI and two runs scored.
OCU added one run in the fifth, two in the sixth and four in the seventh to score at least 20 runs for the second time this season.
Aguirre, a junior from Oklahoma City, hit two homers in the game and went 3-for-4 with seven RBIs and three run scored lead OCU. Lane Milligan and Jerame Littell also hit home-runs in the victory.
Mark Simon recorded the win for Oklahoma City, pitching 4.2 innings allowing five earned runs, seven hits and striking out six. Craig Knoche and Kolin Marley combined to throw two hitless, shutout innings to close the game.
Oklahoma City found themselves behind early in game two, trailing 1-0 going into the fourth inning.
In the fourth, however, the Stars moved ahead 3-1 with two RBI singles from Garrett Foster and Bean.
A senior out of Garland, Texas, Bean went 3-for-4 in game two with three RBIs.
OCU put the game away with four runs in the fifth, highlighted by a three-run homer off the bat of Shaun Corso.
On the mound, Roberto Delgado got the win after throwing 4.2 innings, allowing just three hits, one run and striking out three. J.R. Holloway, Holden Lyons, Bryce Milligan and Tyler Milligan recorded the final seven outs for Oklahoma City without allowing a runner to reach base.
OCU returns to Jim Wade Stadium Tuesday with a non-conference matchup against Southwestern Oklahoma State at 6 p.m.
