OCU blanks Southwestern Christian 7-0

Baker, Grieger pick up two RBIs each for fourth-ranked Stars

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University completed the series sweep of Southwestern Christian 7-0 on Friday at Dolese Park.
Roberto Delgado posted a four-hit, complete-game shutout for Oklahoma City. The Stars, ranked fourth in NAIA baseball, improved to 24-4, 3-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Delgado, a junior right-hander from Killeen, Texas, went the full nine innings with his first complete game as a Star. Delgado struck out seven and walked three. Southwestern Christian (16-9, 2-4 SAC) stranded two runners each in the second and the fifth innings against Delgado, who logged 116 pitches. Delgado notched Oklahoma City's fourth whitewash of the season.  
Jared Baker doubled twice to bring his season total to 15 and his career total to 73. Baker, a senior from Edmond, Okla., needs four doubles to tie Kirk Walker's OCU career record set from 2008-11.
Baker nailed a double into right-center field to put OCU on top 3-0 with one out in the fifth. Baker followed Joe Lytle's double to left. Garrett Foster added a bases-loaded walk to give the Stars a 4-0 lead.
In the sixth, Baker pounded a double to left-center to put OCU ahead 6-0. Branden Grieger nailed an RBI double earlier in the inning.
Lane Milligan drove in a run in the ninth with a base hit to right in the ninth.
OCU scored first in the third inning. Grieger smacked an RBI single to right-center field. Grieger scored when after Joe Lytle's hit, Southwestern Christian right fielder Kelvin Fabian committed a throwing error.
Grieger, a senior from Simi Valley, Calif., went 3-for-5, scored twice and drove in two runs. Baker was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Lytle, a junior from Yukon, Okla., had a 2-for-5 performance and scored a run. Milligan, a junior from Englewood, Colo., went 2-for-5 with an RBI.
OCU faces Southwestern Oklahoma State at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Weatherford, Okla.
