Stars rally past Mid-America Christian 85-68

Seventh-ranked OCU meets Bacone at 7 p.m. Tuesday

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University wrapped up the regular season with an 85-68 victory over Mid-America Christian on Saturday at the Gaulke Activity Center.
The Stars, ranked seventh in NAIA Division I, went to 26-2, 17-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. OCU faces Bacone at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena in the SAC women's basketball tournament quarterfinals.
Daniela Wallen pocketed her 14th double-double in 28 games this season and 28th career double-double in 56 contests for OCU. Wallen, a senior from Caracas, Venezuela, provided the Stars with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Brooke Irwin, a junior from Mustang, Okla., totaled 17 points and eight rebounds while nailing all eight of her field-goal attempts.
Oklahoma City's Daniela Galindo, a junior from Shattuck, Okla., posted 14 points and eight assists. Alexis Hill, a junior from Byng, Okla., tallied 13 points while shooting 4-for-4 from the floor and 5-of-5 from the foul line in 17 minutes.
The Stars reeled off a 13-1 run to secure a 59-50 advantage with 3:38 left in the third quarter. Mykayla Flores sank a trey that gave Mid-America a 49-46 edge at the 6:22 mark of the third.
Irwin hit a jumper in the lane to touch off the OCU surge. Galindo put the Stars in front 51-49 by dropping in a 3 with 5:29 to go in the third.
