OCU routs St. Gregory’s 113-44

Stars top 100 points for fifth time this season

SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Oklahoma City University women's basketball team continued its hot streak as they took home a 113-44 victory over St. Gregory's Saturday at Don Sumner Fieldhouse.
The 113 points is the most for OCU since Feb. 19, 2015 against St. Gregory's. The Stars, ranked seventh in the NAIA, moved their winning streak to ten games and are now 24-2, 15-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play while the Cavaliers fell to 2-21, 0-16 in the SAC.
Daniela Wallen, a senior from Caracas, Venezuela, led OCU with 20 points, nine rebounds and two steals.
"Anytime we can come out and execute sharply as we did early we're going to put the ball in the basket," Oklahoma City head Coach Bo
Overton said. "I thought defensively we were very sharp and we rebounded the ball well. When you put all that together we become very effective."

The Stars used a 20-0 run over the course of the first and second quarters to move ahead 43-7 with 4:41 left in the second. They outscored the St. Gregory's 30-6 in the third quarter and shot 66.7 from the floor in the game.
Daniela Galindo, a junior from Shattuck, Okla., provided 19 points, four assists and two steals and went 8-for-10 from the floor.
Every OCU player scored at least two points and the biggest lead came when Abbey Renner hit a layup to put Oklahoma City up 111-37.
Brooke Irwin, Allison Frey and Alexis Hill all scored in double figures for the Stars with 12, 12 and 15 points respectively. Hill, a junior from Byng, Okla., added three rebounds and one blocked shot while also going 9-for-11 from the free-throw line.
It was the fourth time this season OCU had held an opponent under 50 points, and they outrebounded the Cavaliers 40-23. The Stars also scored 60 of their 113 points in the paint.
"Any good team is going to be great inside," Overton said. "Even when teams are trying to take it away from us we still have to be able to go down low and execute. We're going to continue to go down low for the rest of this season because it gives us the best chance to win."
Kyle Tatum and Danielle Butler both provided St. Gregory's with nine points and one rebound in the loss.
OCU will play their final regular season home game Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena against Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) at 6 p.m.
