Stars steamroll Doane, William Woods

Top-ranked OCU moves to 5-0 on season

FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 1-ranked Oklahoma City University trampled Doane (Neb.) 10-1 and William Woods (Mo.) 9-0 on Saturday in the Cowtown Classic.
Madison Ellis, a senior from Yukon, Okla., had two triples and a home run Saturday. OCU, top-ranked in NAIA softball, improved to 5-0 on the season.
Against Doane, Ellis went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and four RBIs. Ellis tripled to right-center to drive in a run in the second, then had an RBI triple to right in the fifth.

Kali Pugh, a senior from Vista, Calif., was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, while Samantha Stallbaumer, a sophomore from Haven, Kan., went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Jaci Smith, a sophomore from Godley, Texas, was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Abby Meador allowed one hit in five innings with a strikeout. Meador, a junior from Midwest City, Okla., improved to 2-0 on the season.
Against William Woods, Ellis went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two runs driven in. Pugh was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Stallbaumer went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
Georgia Wall notched the shutout on three hits and a walk. Wall, a sophomore from Marlow, Okla., fanned seven.
The Stars open Sooner Athletic Conference play in a 2 p.m. doubleheader against Bacone at Ann Lacy Stadium.
