SAC volleyball tournament comes to OCU

Stars meet Mid-America Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday at home

OKLAHOMA CITY – Top-seeded Oklahoma City University faces Mid-America Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball tournament quarterfinals at Abe Lemons Arena.
The Stars host the SAC Tournament semifinals at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday with the title match 11 a.m. Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena. Each of the matches at OCU will be broadcast live on the SAC Stretch portal.
Oklahoma City, led by first-year coach Jason Muñoz, clinched its second consecutive Sooner Athletic Conference regular-season championship with a 25-17, 25-15, 25-14 win over Central Christian (Kan.) on Saturday in McPherson, Kan.
OCU (20-6, 15-1 SAC) shared the SAC regular-season crown with Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas), who finished 25-5, 15-1 in league play. OCU dealt Southwestern Assemblies of God its only SAC loss of the year 25-23, 18-25, 25-13, 25-21 on Oct. 6 in Waxahachie, Texas.
Oklahoma City reached national-tournament play for the second year in a row and third time in program history by snaring the SAC regular-season crown. The NAIA Championship Opening Round happens Nov. 18 at various campus sites throughout the country. An additional berth in the NAIA Championship Opening Round will be at stake in the SAC Tournament.
The Stars will look to repeat as SAC Tournament champion. OCU owns two SAC Tournament titles won in 2010 and 2016.
Among the NAIA, OCU's Sanja Vojnovic, a senior from Bijeljina, Bosnia, ranks sixth with 0.74 aces per set and 10th with 65 aces and 10.69 assists per set. The Stars' Dani Chase, a senior from Yukon, Okla., rates eighth nationally at 6.00 digs a set. Marijana Bjelobrk, a sophomore from Belgrade, Serbia, leads OCU with 3.42 kills per set, and Holly Randall, a senior from Edmond, Okla., tops the Stars with 0.80 blocks a set.
