Stars look for second consecutive 6-0 start

THE MATCHUP
 · Oklahoma City University returns to Abe Lemons Arena after winning both its games in the Mid-America Christian Classic last week
· The Stars have won their last two contests against Randall by an average margin of 23 points
· Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and OCU students, faculty and staff get into all regular-season OCU home athletics events free with their ID

ABOUT THE STARS
· Oklahoma City (5-0) returns the floor after cruising to a 101-74 victory over Ecclesia (Ark.) in its second game of the Mid-America Christian Classic. The Stars dominated the Royals in points in the paint (52-20) and fast break points (18-2).
· Samuel Williams, a 6-8 senior from Reno, Nev., led all scorers with 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting. He added nine rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block in Friday's win.
·
Elijah Christman, a 6-5 junior from Justin, Texas, notched season-highs in points (17), rebounds (6) and assists (3) in the win. Christman ended the two-game tilt in the Mid-America Christian Classic with a total of 28 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.
· Ridell Camidge and Terence Bonhomme lead the Stars in scoring, both averaging over 20 points per game. Camidge, a 6-4 senior from Wilmington, N.C., is putting up 21.2 points per contest while Bonhomme, a 6-foot senior from St. Martinville, La., provides 20.2 points per game.
· OCU ranks 12th in NAIA Division I in total scoring offense (481) and 13th in total 3-point field goals made (47).
· OCU has been slotted at No. 12 in the preseason NAIA Division I rankings. Oklahoma City has made 23 NAIA Division I Tournament appearances and won six national championships in 1991, 1992, 1994, 1996, 2007 and 2008
· The Stars have been picked to finish second place in the Sooner Athletic Conference according to the preseason coaches poll. OCU owns 12 SAC regular-season titles and nine SAC Tournament crowns
· Oklahoma City dominated Randall 90-70 on Dec. 9, 2016 in Moore, Okla. The Stars outscored the Saints 52-35 in the second half to secure the victory.
 
ABOUT THE SAINTS
· Randall (1-3), the defending NCCAA DII national champion, is coming off an 88-76 road loss to Oklahoma Christian on Saturday. Oklahoma Christian outrebounded the Saints 50-37 and held Randall to 39.7 percent from the field.
· Antonio Wilson, a 5-7 junior from Oklahoma City, came off the bench and delivered a team-high 17 points in Saturday's loss. Wilson is averaging 10.5 points and 2.3 assists per game this year.
· Issac Bowles, a 6-7 senior from Detroit, earned a double-double in his last outing, tallying 11 points and 13 rebounds against Oklahoma Christian.
· Xavier Hunter, a 5-9 senior from Oklahoma City, leads the Saints in scoring, averaging 14.5 points per game. He had four points on 2-of-4 shooting in Saturday's loss.
· Randall has a -12.5 margin in rebounds per game and is allowing opponents to score an average of 86.8 points per game.
 
MEET THE COACHES
Vinay Patel (41-22, third season with OCU)
• Patel has guided two OCU all-Americans, including the Stars' first first-teamer since 2008; the 2017 Sooner Athletic Conference player of the year, the 2017 SAC co-defensive player of the year, a finalist for the Dark Horse Dunker competition, six all-conference performers and three academic all-SAC choices
• Before coming to OCU, he spent one season as Rogers State's assistant coach and aided the Hillcats to a 20-8 season led by the conference player of the year
• Patel spent nine years as assistant before serving as the head coach at West Texas A&M. During that time, West Texas went to the NCAA Division II Tournament five times, won the Lone Star Conference championship and took two Lone Star South Division titles
 
Mark Berokoff (83-74, sixth season with Randall)
• Berokoff has helped the Saints win back-to-back NCCAA Division II national championships and has coached the 2016-17 national player of the year and first team all-American in Trey Snead.
• He came to Randall after one year as the Director of Basketball Operations for the Texas State Men's Basketball team
• Berokoff has also served as an administrative assistant at Louisiana Tech University. While there, he was part of one of the best seasons in the school's history with a record of 24-11 and a berth in the College Insider Tournament quarterfinals.
