OCU tops Langston 95-88

Bonhomme goes for 38 points in Wednesday’s road win

LANGSTON, Okla. – Terence Bonhomme poured in 38 points and carried Oklahoma City University to a 95-88 victory over Langston Wednesday night at C. Felton Gayles Fieldhouse.
The Stars improved to 2-0 on the season and handed the Lions their first loss of the year. OCU, rated 12th in NAIA Division I men's basketball, dominated in the paint on Wednesday, outscoring 19th-ranked  Langston 50-28.
"That was a great team win tonight," OCU head coach Vinay Patel said. "Our guys really battled through some foul trouble early and did a great job of hitting free throws down the stretch. I thought Langston did a good job defensively taking our perimeter shots away, and we made some adjustments at the break to help our scoring. Coach Stan Holt does a phenomenal job with his team, and we were very fortunate to pull away with this win in a really fun atmosphere."
Bonhomme, a senior from St. Martinville, La., sparked the Stars on a quick 5-0 run midway through the first half, hitting runners off the glass and weaving through Langston defenders for easy finishes at the rim. The Stars led 43-34 at halftime.
Oklahoma City saw its lead dwindle back to single digits at the beginning of the second half. The Lions later hit a contested 3 with nine minutes left and tied up the game at 57 apiece, forcing a timeout from the Stars.
OCU responded with tough rebounds and capitalized with 11 second-chance points to once again take control. The Stars outrebounded Langston 35-30 in the win, and got solid contributions from Ridell Camidge and Samuel Williams.
Williams, a senior from Reno, Nev., tallied 14 points and nine rebounds. Camidge, a 6-4 senior from Wilmington, N.C., added 12 points, two rebounds and two assists in the win.
The Stars are back in action on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Southwestern Oklahoma State at Abe Lemons Arena.
