OCU gives up three first-half goals in road loss

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Oklahoma City University women's soccer dropped its second consecutive game Friday night after a 5-0 loss against No. 22 the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma at McLaughlin Field.
The loss moved OCU to 5-4 overall, 1-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. USAO improved to 9-2-1, 3-0 in the SAC.
USAO got off to a hot start, scoring three goals in the match's first 25 minutes. The Stars struggled to muster any offense in the first half, producing only four shots after 45 minutes of play.
OCU saw the deficit grow to 4-0 in the 52nd minute when Madison Lybarger nailed a goal from 10 yards straight away for USAO. Allie Gordon of USAO then notched her second goal of the night and fifth total for the Science and Arts in the 73rd minute.
The Stars finished the match with 11 total shots and one on goal. Sara Ricks, a junior from Keller, Texas, had three shots and one on goal in Friday's match. Ricks leads the team in goals scored this season with nine. Natalie Eley and Bailey Webb each tallied two shots in the match.
Oklahoma City next takes on Wayland Baptist at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Plainview, Texas.
