CHICKASHA, Okla. – Aboubakr Diallo's spark on offensive boosted Oklahoma City University past the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma 2-0 Friday night at McLaughlin Field.
OCU improved to 9-2 on the year, 2-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference men's soccer play. USAO fell to 7-4-1, 2-2 in the SAC.
Diallo, a junior from Oyem, Gabon, helped set up the first goal of the match in the 38th minute when he crossed to Henrik Verolet for a one-touch score. A heel kick from Fabian Henningsen led to a second goal for Diallo in the 89th minute, a goal put that put the game away and gave the Stars a 2-0 lead.
Diallo now has four total goals on the season. Alexandre Taiar, a senior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, leads the team with five goals for OCU this year.
USAO led the way in both total shots (16) and shots on goal (10). Senior goalkeeper Vladimir Kalajdzic accumulated 10 saves on the night, giving him a total of 60 saves and 10 goals allowed in 2017.
Oklahoma City returns to action against Wayland Baptist at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Plainview, Texas.
