Stars bested by John Brown 1-0

OCU’s winning-streak snaps at two games

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University dropped a 1-0 decision to 20th-ranked John Brown (Ark.) on Tuesday at Stars Field.
The Stars, 8-4-1 overall and 4-2-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer play, fought hard to keep the match close but were unable to produce any goals in Tuesday's contest. With the victory, John Brown kept its top spot in the SAC with an unblemished 8-0 record and improved to 14-2 overall.
The only goal of the match came five minutes after the opening whistle. JBU's Jastin Redman fired a shot from inside the box that hit off the right post, off OCU's keeper and in for the score.
Neither team was able to generate much offense the rest of the way. John Brown launched eight total shots on Tuesday, four on goal. The Stars accumulated three total shots, all on goal.
Oklahoma City's three shots came from Sara Ricks, Bailey Webb and Natalie Speer and were all corralled by the JBU keeper. Kirsten Thomas, a junior from Keller, Texas, had three saves in goal to give her 35 saves and 15 goals allowed on the year.
OCU is back in action at 2 p.m. Saturday against Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) for Senior Night at Stars Field.
