Chase of OCU earns SAC defensive player of week

Senior from Yukon, Okla., Chase collects third defensive player of week honor this season

OKLAHOMA CITY – Dani Chase of Oklahoma City University became Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball defensive player of the week for Sept. 25-Oct. 1 after her dominant play against USAO and Mid-America Christian.
Chase, a senior from Yukon, Okla., earned her third SAC defensive player of the week honor this season and the sixth of her career.
She scooped up 22 digs in both matches, giving her seven total 20-dig performances on the year. Chase ranks ninth among the NAIA with 5.90 digs per set and 11th in the SAC at 0.36 aces a set. She also contributed an ace as Oklahoma City produced 10 or more aces for the fourth consecutive match with 11 against USAO. The Stars have won four in a row.
On the week, Chase averaged 7.33 digs and 0.50 aces per set as well as boasting a 92.6 service percentage and a 100 percent service reception percentage.
OCU (9-5) returns to action against Southwestern Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena. Follow the match live here.
