Stars roll past Mid-America Christian 3-0

OCU gets goals from three different players in Tuesday’s win

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University rolled to a 3-0 victory over Mid-America Christian Tuesday night at Stars Field.
The Stars improved to 7-4-1 on the year, 3-2-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer. Mid-America Christian dropped to 8-3 overall and 3-2 in the SAC.
Bailey Webb, a freshman from Oklahoma City, notched her second goal of the season and first of the match in the 26th minute when she gathered a cross from Natalie Eley on the right side and scored from about 20 yards out.
Other than Webb's goal, there was not much offense from either side in the first half. OCU fired just three shots and MACU had just two shots after 45 minutes of play.
The Stars got on the board again in the 64th minute when a cross from Madeleine Sjoholm met Natalie Speer inside the box and was put in for the score.
Speer kicked a lead pass to Eley who crossed it to Sara Ricks for OCU's third goal of the night in the 75th minute. The shot bounced off the keeper's hands, hit the crossbar and went in for the goal. Ricks, a junior from Keller, Texas, leads the team in goals scored this season with 12.
Kirsten Thomas, a junior from Keller, Texas, tallied two saves on the night and earned her second shutout of the year. Thomas has 32 saves and 14 goals allowed in 2017.
Oklahoma City is back in action against Bacone at 1 p.m. Saturday in Muskogee, Okla.
