OCU stomps Oklahoma Baptist 5-3

Stars establish season high in scoring

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University rolled past Oklahoma Baptist 5-3 on Thursday night at Stars Field.
Lucas Ribeiro, a senior from Campinas, Brazil, boosted the Stars with the winning goal in the 66th minute. OCU improved to 3-1 in men's soccer.
Ribeiro booted in a scoring kick from 30 yards away into the upper right corner of the net at the 66:31 mark to put the Stars ahead 4-1. Ribeiro notched his second goal of the year.
Logan Stewart provided OCU with the first goal of the night in the third minute. Ribeiro set up Stewart, a junior from Denton, Texas, on his second goal of 2016.
The Stars broke a 1-1 tie when Daniel Yeom nailed a free kick from beyond the penalty box from the left wing in the 17th minute. Yeom, a senior from Tongyeong, South Korea, scored for the first time since the first goal of the Stars' 4-3 win over Oklahoma Baptist on Oct. 21, 2014 at Stars Field. Yeom sat out 2015 as a redshirt.
Juan Ocampo converted on a penalty kick for a 3-1 OCU lead in the 35th minute. Ocampo, a senior from Boca Raton, Fla., brought his season total to three.
Andrew Flores struck for a goal, giving the Stars a 5-1 advantage in the 77th minute. Stewart dished the assist to Flores, a freshman from Rowlett, Texas. Flores produced a goal for the second consecutive match.
Vladimir Kalajdzic, a junior from Novi Sad, Serbia, tracked down six saves for OCU. The Stars recorded 21 shots, 12 on goal, while Oklahoma Baptist had 11 shots, nine on goal.
The Stars take on Wiley (Texas) at 4 p.m. Saturday at Stars Field.
