OCU squashes Texas Wesleyan 4-0, 5-0

Stars take 13th consecutive victory

FORT WORTH, Texas – Top-ranked Oklahoma City University blanked Texas Wesleyan 4-0, 5-0 on Wednesday at Sycamore Park.
In the first game, Kyndra Holasek ripped a two-run home run, and in the second, Madison Ellis smacked a two-run double for OCU. The Stars, ranked No. 1 in NAIA softball, moved their record to 42-1, 13-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
OCU's Georgia Wall collected her fourth complete-game shutout of the year. Wall, a freshman from Marlow, Okla., allowed four hits and two walks with five strikeouts in seven innings in her ninth complete game of the season.
Wall (13-0) emerged unscathed out of a bases-loaded one-out situation in the third. Lauren Davis popped up in foul territory, then Wall caught Bailey Terry looking at a third strike to retire the side.
Holasek gave the Stars a 2-0 first-inning lead by pounding a two-run homer to right field.
In the sixth, Holasek scored on an error after leading off the inning with a triple. Amanda Ingram reached home plate on another error.
Holasek, a senior from Mustang, Okla., went 2-for-4, scored twice and drove in two runs, while Kali Pugh compiled a 2-for-4 game for the Stars. Ingram, a junior from Oklahoma City, singled and scored.
In the next game, Abby Meador posted her third complete-game whitewash of 2016. Meador, a sophomore from Midwest City, Okla., struck out 11 and permitted four hits and two walks in seven innings. Meador (17-0) recorded her ninth complete game this year.
The Stars' Stephanie Koishor knocked in the first run of the game on a groundball in the second. Laci Joyner reached base on a hit by pitch to lead off the inning, then advanced to third on Ellis' single. Joyner scored on Koishor's grounder.
In the seventh, Ingram and Bailey Whitmore socked consecutive run-scoring singles. Ellis hit a two-run double to left-center.
Ellis, a junior from Yukon, Okla., went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBIs, while Holasek was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Joyner, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., scored a run and went 1-for-3.
The Stars host Southwestern Christian in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Friday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
