MUSKOGEE, Okla. – No. 1-ranked Oklahoma City University stomped Bacone 9-1, 11-1 on Thursday at Warrior Field.
Madison Ellis and Leslie Miller hit home runs in the first game, and Miller added another homer while Kyndra Holasek nailed two homers in the second game for the Stars. OCU, top-ranked in NAIA softball, moved to 48-1, 19-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Miller hammered a two-run blast beyond the center-field fence in the third inning. Stephanie Koishor brought in a run on a squeeze bunt for a 5-0 third-inning OCU lead.
Ellis tacked on a three-run shot past the left-field fence to put the Stars ahead 8-1. Miller singled in a run in the seventh to give OCU a 9-1 advantage.
Miller, a senior from Blanchard, Okla., went 3-for-5, scored twice and drove in three runs, while Koishor, a junior from Valley Center, Calif., was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. OCU's Kali Pugh, a junior from Vista, Calif., hit a double and knocked in two runs.
Georgia Wall pitched the last 4.1 innings of the first game to earn the victory. Wall, a freshman from Marlow, Okla., struck out seven and allowed two hits and a walk to improve to 15-0. Miller had seven strikeouts in the first 2.2 innings.
In the second game, Holasek pounded a grand slam to center to give OCU an 11-0 lead. Holasek socked a two-run homer in the first to put the Stars up 3-0.
Miller's two-run shot provided OCU a 6-0 second-inning lead.
Holasek, a senior from Mustang, Okla., drove in seven runs on a 3-for-4 game with three runs scored. Pugh scored three times, and Jaci Smith, a freshman from Godley, Texas, went 1-for-3 and reached home plate twice for the Stars.
Abby Meador improved to 20-0 by allowing one run on three hits and three walks in five innings. Meador, a sophomore from Midwest City, Okla., fanned seven.
Oklahoma City meets Mid-America Christian for a 2 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
