Stars silence SAGU in doubleheader no-hitters

OCU powers past Lady Lions with bats, pitching

WAXAHACHIE, Texas – Oklahoma City University held Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) hitless in Monday's 15-0 and 16-0 drubbings at SAGU Field.
OCU's Abby Meador and Georgia Wall pitched four innings, while Leslie Miller added three innings of no-hit pitching to lead the Stars' shutout victories. Oklahoma City, ranked second in NAIA softball, improved to 34-1 overall and 9-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
In game one, Miller as the designated player hit a three-run home run in the top of the first inning to take an early 3-0 lead.
The long ball continued in the top of the second inning as Stephanie Koisher clubbed a two-run home run and Jaci Smith followed with a solo shot. Three OCU runs scored on a dropped fly ball by a Lady Lions fielder to make it a 9-0 OCU advantage.
In the third, Kali Pugh's RBI single plated Koisher, while a SAGU throwing error also brought Smith around to score. A few batters later, Pugh scored on a dropped fly ball.
The Stars added three more runs in the fourth inning on two RBI singles and a sacrifice fly.
OCU starter Meador went four innings with five strikeouts and two walks to receive the win. Wall pitched one scoreless inning with one strikeout.
In the second game, Wall started and pitched three scoreless innings with four strikeouts, while giving up two walks to improve to 10-0 on the season. Miller pitched three perfect innings of relief with five strikeouts.
The Stars scored first in the top of the second inning off a Miller solo blast and a passed ball that scored Laci Joyner.
OCU added five runs in the fifth inning from a SAGU fielding error, a two-run RBI single by Kyndra Holasek and another solo shot by Miller to make it a 7-0 Stars lead.
Oklahoma City piled it on in the sixth inning to the tune of nine runs to go up 16-0. Smith and Holasek notched RBI singles, while Koisher scored Shelbi Legg on a sacrifice fly. Madison Ellis had a RBI single and a two-run home run. Wall, a freshman from Marlow, Okla., slugged a three-run homer for her first collegiate home run.
