OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University's Dylan Delso hit a walk-off two-run single in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader to defeat Dallas Christian 5-4 at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars, ranked 15th in NAIA baseball, swept the twin bill to improve to 19-8 on the season. In game one, OCU cruised to a 5-1 victory on starter Jake Carson's complete game.
In game one, Landon Coon gave the Stars an early 1-0 lead by clubbing a home run to right field in the bottom of the first inning.
Oklahoma City stretched its lead by two runs in the second inning on a Garrett Foster sacrifice fly and Dilon Argo's RBI double down the right-field line.
Carson surrendered a run to the Crusaders on a single in the fourth inning to make it 3-1. Carson moved to 2-0 on the season with a pitching line of four hits, three walks and a strikeout on one run over seven innings.
OCU added two insurance runs in the fifth inning on a Jared Baker RBI single up the middle and a sacrifice fly by J.J. Bissell.
Argo went 2-for-4 with a RBI, while Coon finished 2-for-3 with two runs and a RBI.
In the second game, the Stars found themselves down to their last inning twice as they trailed 3-2 entering the bottom of the seventh before tying it, then 4-3 going into the bottom of the eighth.
Bissell kept OCU alive by hitting a towering home run over the right-field fence on a 2-0 count with one out in the seventh inning to notch the game at 3-3 and force extra innings.
The Crusaders regained the lead in the top of the eighth inning at 4-3 by plating a runner on a passed ball.
In the bottom of the frame, Argo led off with a walk, followed by a Joe Lytle hit by pitch, then a wild pitch prompted Dallas Christian's Jacob Houpt to intentionally walk Coon to load the bases. On a 0-2 count, Delso scorched a game-winning single through the right side to plate Argo and Lytle.
OCU's Hamilton pitched two scoreless innings of relief to receive the win and improve to 2-0.
The Stars' Lytle had a RBI single in the third inning, while Cory Linn hit his fourth home run of the year in the fourth inning.
OCU resumes Sooner Athletic Conference play with a game against Southwestern Christian at noon Thursday at Dolese Park in Oklahoma City.
