LSU-Shreveport sweeps twin bill from Stars

LSU-Shreveport takes 2-of-3 in weekend series against OCU

SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU-Shreveport dealt Oklahoma City University 6-4 and 14-4 losses Saturday at Pilots Field in a clash of ranked NAIA baseball teams.
LSU-Shreveport, ranked 11th, gained the series win over the fifth-ranked Stars. Oklahoma City moved to 3-2 on the year.
In the first game, OCU held a 4-1 advantage after Jared Baker socked an RBI single to right field in the fourth inning. LSU-Shreveport rallied with five runs in the bottom of the fourth. Jamal Martin drove in the winning run with a two-run base hit to right.
In the third, Baker broke a 1-1 tie by scoring off a wild pitch. Hunter Marcum added a run-scoring single to shallow left-center field.
The Stars scored first on Dylan Delso's sacrifice fly to left in the first inning.
Joe Lytle led the OCU attack by going 2-for-4 with a double. Mark Simon took the loss for the Stars.
In the second game, Cory Linn went 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored a run. J.J. Bissell was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, and Lytle went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Skylar Janisse picked up the loss for OCU.
The Stars meet MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) at 3 p.m. Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
