ABOUT THE STARS:
The Stars (10-7, 7-4 Sooner Athletic Conference) dropped a 78-76 decision against Mid-America Christian on Thursday in Oklahoma City. OCU's Lou Dunbar had a clear look for a game-winning trey but the ball rimmed out.

Terence Bonhomme, a 6-foot sophomore from St. Martinville, La., paced the Stars with a season-high 34 points including four 3-pointers and shooting 10 of 11 from the free-throw line. Bonhomme leads OCU with 17.4 points per game and his 86 percent free-throw percentage ranks eighth in NAIA.
Dunbar, a 6-3 sophomore from Seabrook, Texas, finished with nine points off of 3-for-9 shooting from beyond the arc. He averages 11.3 points a game and shoots 43.5 percent from 3-point range.
Dorion Gigger, a 6-5 junior from Oklahoma City, scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds. Gigger owns the team-high in rebounds per game with 8.9, while scoring 10.8 points a game.
Bonhomme shoots 86 percent from the free-throw line to rank eighth in NAIA and guides the Stars to a team 70.2 percent free-throw percentage, which rates 25th in the nation. To see how OCU ranks statistically in the NAIA, click here.
In the latest rankings, OCU landed in the No. 25 spot.
The Stars have been slotted to take sixth in the SAC according to the preseason coaches poll. Oklahoma City has won or shared the SAC regular-season championship 12 times, most recently in 2007-08. Oklahoma City owns six NAIA national championships won in 1991, 1992, 1994, 1996, 2007 and 2008.
SAGU leads the all-time series over OCU at 3-2. The Stars fell in overtime 78-75 on Jan. 16, 2015 in Oklahoma City. Jason Gentry of SAGU hit a trey with nine seconds left in overtime to seal the win for the Lions.

ABOUT THE LIONS:  SAGU (15-8, 6-5 SAC) snapped a four-game losing streak by edging St. Gregory's 65-61 on Thursday in Shawnee, Okla. Emmanuel Adoyi made two free throws late to give SAGU enough cushion to secure the win. The Lions outrebounded SGU 38-28 and shot 14-for-18 from the free-throw line, while SGU made 8 of 15 from the charity line.
Adoyi, a 6-5 senior, collected a team-high 12 rebounds, while adding seven points and three steals. He scores 9.5 points per game and grabs a team-high 8.1 rebounds a game.
Rishaad Alexander, a 5-10 senior, paced the Lions with 18 points and five assists. Alexander averages 12.5 points per game and his 6.06 assists per game rank fifth in NAIA.
The Lions lead the nation in total steals (252) and are second in steals per game (11.0), while ranking third in total 3-point field goals made (241).
Southwestern Assemblies of God was projected to finish atop the conference in the SAC preseason poll.

ABOUT THE COACHES: Vinay Patel embarks on his first season as OCU head coach. He came to Oklahoma City after spending one season as Rogers State's assistant coach. He aided Rogers State to a 20-8 season led by conference player of the year Frederico Santos. Patel spent nine years as assistant at West Texas A&M. During that time, West Texas went to the NCAA Division II Tournament five times, won the Lone Star Conference championship and took two Lone Star South Division titles. He elevated to the interim head-coaching position before he ended his time at West Texas A&M.

Donnie Bostwick enters his sixth year as the Lions head basketball coach with an overall record of 133-63. In 2013-14, the Lions were the regular-season champions in their first season in the SAC. Bostwick led SAGU to a regular-season championship in their last season in the Red River Conference in 2012-13 with a 33-5 record. Bostwick received the SAC coach of the year award and the National Christian College Athletic Association coach of the year award in 2014. He served as a court coach during the 2015 USA Basketball Men's U19 National Team training camp.

QUOTABLE:  "Last time we played Southwestern Assemblies of God, we shot 40 percent from the foul line in our own gym. They hit a big three in overtime to beat us. And they outrebounded us. No question, I'd like us to continue to hit free throws, which is something that we have gotten better at throughout the year. But we have to pick it up on rebounding. This is the second or third straight game that we have been outrebounded now and Donnie's team does a heck of a job on the glass. He is one of the best defensive coaches in the league and they have a very good basketball team. It is always more difficult to go on the road and I know he has his team ready." –Patel on the rematch Saturday against SAGU
