Stars rout Central Methodist 10-2

OCU moves to 5-0 with 8-2 win over Houston-Victoria

FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma City University stomped Central Methodist (Mo.) 10-2 on Saturday at Gateway Park in a clash of top 10-ranked NAIA softball teams in the Cowtown Classic.
The sixth-ranked Stars crushed Houston-Victoria 8-2 to complete the weekend 5-0.
Against fifth-ranked Central Methodist, OCU racked up six runs in the second inning. Bailey Whitmore poked a two-run single, and Leslie Miller doubled with the bases loaded.
Kyndra Holasek cranked her first home run of the year to right field in the fifth. Miller added an RBI base hit in the seventh.
Holasek, a senior from Mustang, Okla., scored three runs and went 3-for-4 for OCU. Miller, a senior from Blanchard, Okla., went 2-for-3 and drove in four runs.
Abby Meador came in to pitch in the third and finished the game to earn the victory. Meador, a sophomore from Midwest City, Okla., struck out seven in 4.2 innings.
Against Houston-Victoria, the Stars had a four-run fifth as Whitmore knocked in two runs on a double. Whitmore scored on Holasek's single to give OCU a 7-0 lead.
Miller had a third-inning two-run single and a run-scoring double in the sixth. Miller went 4-for-4 with three runs driven in. Madison Ellis, a junior from Yukon, Okla., was 2-for-3 for OCU.
Miller also fanned 11 in a complete-game effort. Miller improved to 2-0.
OCU begins Sooner Athletic Conference play against new league member Bacone in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
