OCU secures two wins in Battle of Rockies Duals

Stars go to 5-2 in duals this season

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Oklahoma City University split four duals in the Great Falls Battle of the Rockies Duals on Friday at the McLaughlin Center Gymnasium.
The Stars, ranked fourth in NAIA men's wrestling, took a 25-19 win over Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) and a 39-9 romp of Eastern Oregon, moving to 5-2 in duals. Seventh-ranked Montana State-Northern dealt OCU a 27-21 setback, while host Great Falls (Mont.) knocked off Oklahoma City 32-10.
Bryson McGowan's fall lifted the Stars to their win over Embry-Riddle. McGowan, a sophomore from Hulbert, Okla., finished David Rupp in 1:30, breaking a 19-19 deadlock. Evan Hudson of OCU worked for the pin of Ryker Greenbaum in 6:51 at 197 pounds to rally OCU out of a 19-13 hole.
Hudson, a sophomore from Oklahoma City, added a fall in 5:19 over Zach Wardle of Eastern Oregon. Matt Landgraff of the Stars overwhelmed Tyler Miller 18-3 in the 141-pound bout.
Against MSU-Northern, Hudson and Korey Walker came up with wins, but Ben Stroh's pin at 184 secured the dual win. Hudson posted a 16-5 win over Dace Fisher, then Walker pinned Adam Hokenson in 1:47 in the 285-pound contest. Kristian Holguin-Mendez from OCU scored a fall of Tommy Cooper in 4:49 in the 157-pound match.
Mendez, Walker and James Landoll provided the Stars with victories against Great Falls.
