Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

OCU falls to Midwestern State 96-82

Stars cut deficit to 11 points with 7:27 to go

WICHITA FALLS, Texas Oklahoma City University dropped a 96-82 decision to Midwestern State (Texas) in its final men's basketball exhibition match of the season Monday at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
Terence Bonhomme led the Stars with 31 points to go along with four rebounds and six assists in the loss. Bonhomme, a junior from St. Martinsville, La., went 9-for-19 from the field, including a 7-of-13 performance from 3-point range.
"I thought we competed really well throughout the game," OCU head coach Vinay Patel said. "We did a good job rebounding the basketball tonight. We hope to build consistency on that as we get ready for regular season play, but we gave up too many points tonight. We have to improve defensively in order to give ourselves a chance to win a big game on the road."
Midwestern came out of the gates quickly, building a 13-2 lead early in the first half. The Mustangs stretched the lead to 40-18 at the end of the half. Devante Pullum led Midwestern with 28 points and six rebounds.

The Stars cut the lead to 79-68 late in the second half when Bonhomme hit a free throw to complete a four-point play after being fouled on a 3-point make.
Xavier Smith, a senior out of Richardson, Texas, put up 15 points and tied for the team lead with eight boards with Tyler Alderman. Alderman, a senior from Fishers, Ind., also produced nine points and four assists in the contest.
Juniors Lou Dunbar and Walter Rickett both had nine points for the Stars. Dunbar, from Seabrook, Texas, had two rebounds and an assist while Rickett, from Dallas, Texas, picked up three rebounds.
Oklahoma City opens the regular season 7 p.m. Thursday against Randall at Abe Lemons Arena. Follow along live here.
